Admission Policy
Fee Policy
Attendance Policy
APS expects students to be responsible and keep their attendance up to date because it is critical for students learning and achievement of the course expectations. Students are required to attend school until the age of 18 or graduate.
- Specific Procedures for addressing absenteeism: Students’ frequent absences would jeopardize their successful completion of a course. A student can have a maximum of 5 absences in a class semester for which the students must make up time on an hour-for-hour basis that will be arranged at the discretion of the principal, based upon the individual needs and resources of the school. If students leave early from a class four times that will be counted as one absence. Parents will be notified of the behaviors of students to remind them of the school’s attendance policy.
- Specific procedures for addressing lateness: Teachers will take attendance in the first 30 minutes of each class which will be considered as official. A student is not allowed to enter the class if he/she is late more than 15 minutes in which case student would be required to submit a late note including the date, reason and parent’s or guardian’s signature to excuse his/her absence.
In case of a valid reason (which would be decided by the principal), the absence or lateness of the student will be excused. In order to be granted a credit, a student must meet the criterion of demonstrating that he/she has met the expectations of the course. Once a student registered more than 20 hours of absences from a course the student may be denied the opportunity to complete the course.
Assignment/Test Policy
Policies on Missing or Being Late for Tests, Exams, or Assignments. A student’s grade in a course is determined based on the student demonstrating the degree to which he/she meets the curriculum expectations of the course. Attendance and punctuality are paramount with regards to Tests and Exams as is the prompt meeting of assignment deadlines. Lateness or Absence for Tests, and Late or Missing assignments can adversely affect the student’s assessments and evaluations. Students with legitimate reasons for a missing test, exam, or being late or having missed assignments, must submit appropriate documentation to support their claim. Students who have undocumented absences at the time of tests, assignments, exams or other evaluations may not have a makeup opportunity and may be graded zero on the evaluation. In case of emergency, students may request a waiver of the attendance requirement which should be submitted a week before the evaluation. Granting or denying the request for waiver will be decided by the principal after determining if a student’s reason and documentation for missing a test, exam, or submitting late or missing assignments are legitimate. In case of denial, the student will not be allowed the opportunity to make up the evaluation time. If the request is accepted the evaluation will be rescheduled to a mutually agreed upon time.

Reporting Policy
Student Responsibilities
Students are responsible to be regular and punctual in terms of classes and attendance. In case students are missing classes their final evaluation will get affected. Also, students are responsible to be honest in terms of their academic work. Any kind of wrong behavior is strictly unacceptable including physical, verbal, sexual or psychological abuse; discrimination on the basis of race, religion, culture, language, gender or other attribute; bullying.
It is the student’s responsibility to submit all the assignments by the due date. If the assignment is a group assignment, then the consequences of not submitting the assignment will impact on the member of the group who did not contribute their portion of the assignment. It will be up to the teacher if the part that is missing is acceptable after the due date and what the impact will be on the final mark for that student.
To summarize,
It is the student’s responsibility to:
- Be regular
- Be punctual in attendance
- Refrain from bringing anything to school that may compromise the safety of others
- Take responsibility for their actions
- Follow the school policy
- Be honest in their work and submit their original work. Plagiarism (intentionally or unintentionally using another person’s word, ideas and presenting s theirs) is strictly unacceptable.
